Eksplorasi bakteri termofilik sangat penting untuk mengetahui jenis dan sifatnya, penelitian dilakukan dengan metode deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis bakteri termofilik pada sumber air panas. Sampel air panas 2 kawah yaitu atas dan bawah dikawasan cagar alam Tinggi Raja Kecamatan Silau Kahen Kabupaten Simalungun Sumatera Utara. Pengamatan dilakukan secara makroskopis, mikroskopis, dan uji biokimia untuk mengetahui karakteristik bakteri termofilik pada sampel tersebut.
