Physical Setting of Children's Social Space in Urban Kampong Case : Gedongkiwo, Mantrijeron, YOGYAKARTA

Children's social space is a space that uses to provide the children's needs of their growth using playing instrument. Lately the development of the city deprives children's liberties of their social space so that the phenomenon of unplanned children's social space formed. This is evidenced by the presence of children using urban space as a play space such as roads, riversides, alleys, sidewalks and so on. Children are geniuses who need space that can accommodate their genius in developing. This research of children's social space is using rationalistic method which is the location of research only in 15 sample that obtained by 3 times observation. The first observation obtained 25 spots than decrease become 19 on second observation and finally 15 spot become representation of children's social space. This study discusses the children's social space, the elements that shape children's social space which is play space or physical setting. Based on the results of the analysis it was found 10 models of children's social space settings were based on the elements that created those space. The models is obtained through the process of analyzing the relationship of play space with play time, play method and play group
