Defects in casting reduce quality of products and economic efficency.Therefore, limiting defects is the first step in enhacing the quality of casting. Describing the relationship between defects, process parameters and material properties through mathematical model is the Fastest way to eliminate defects from casting part. In this article, dimensionless Niyama criterion on sand mold casting with aluminum alloy ADC12 is applied to predict formation of shrinkage porosity for a machine part. Simulation software (procast) is used to simulate casting process; all process parameters from simulation result related to defect are considered to find out the cause of shrinkage porosity and results from experiment are compared with the previous results...
