The Parameters of Biofilter in Municipal Wastewater Treatment From Combined Sewage System: Experiments and Results in Danang City

Bio-filter is a waste water treatment technology that has been applied in many countries around the world with many advantages in cost, operation process, and treatment performance. However, in Vietnam, with the municipal waste water from combined sewerage system having low concentrations of pollutants and being depended on season, the waste water treatment plants only use active sludge technology and haven't applied biological filtration for waste water treatment .The model of bio-filter is operated with different organic loadings and depth of filter medium to evaluate the performance of the treatment process and its ability to be applied to municipal waste water. The proposed parameters of bio-filters with organic loadings lower than 1 kg BOD/m3.d and depth of filter medium more than 2m, the BOD removal rate is higher than 60% and the quality of treated water reaches the column A, QCVN40: 2011/BTNMT
