Assessing Environmental Status and Proposing Measures for Environmental Protection for Thanh Ha Pottery Village in Hoi an City, Quang Nam Province

Currently there are many handicraft villages in Vietnam in general and in the Central region of Vietnam in particular. These handicraft villages were formed hundreds of years ago and have existed until now. However, their production methods are outdated,resulting in environmental pollution. This paper presents the results of assessing the environmental status in Thanh Ha pottery village. The results showed that using integrated model of canvas shield and water spray resulted in suspended particulates decreasing significantly: the removal efficiency of suspended particulates at the position of unloading ceramic products and at the position of 4 m downwind away from pottery kiln was 99% and 98% respectively. In addition, this paper also proposes measures for environmental protection for Thanh Ha pottery village in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province
