Sol-gel films of 80SiO2: 20TiO2: 5%mol Al3+ doped with Er 3+ ions are prepared by spin coating route with a variety of the Er3+ concentration from 0.1 to 1%mol. The film thickness increases from 0.5m to 3m and glass film is annealed at 900oC for 1- 6 hours. Surface morphology and amorphous property of multi-component glass are investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Xray diffraction pattern. Linking features in doping SiO2: TiO2 film are analyzed using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The effect of Er3+ concentration on photoluminescence intensity is also studied at the wavelength range of about 1530 nm and at visible area. Photoluminescence intensity obtains the highest value at 0.5%mol of Er3+ concentration
