Socio-economic development in Cuba imposes the need to use renewable sources of energy for the electric power generation. In isolated rural communities of the eastern mountainous region of Cuba, these factors are combined with poor accessibility, absence of connection to the national energy system and strong economic potentials that need to be exploited. Therefore, this work includes a study of the potential of renewable sources of energy in the eastern mountainous region of Cuba and in particular in the municipality of Guama.
