Soon after the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, many countries started to develop digital contact tracing applications (CTAs) to address the crisis. In Finland, Koronavilkku CTA was published in late August 2020, and the number of users peaked at almost 2,5 million users in April 2021. Some six months later in December 2021, however, there had already been a net loss of 900 000 users.
