Study of the dynamics of Receptions in Pairs/Groups of Acrobatic Gymnastics

Dissertação de Mestrado Integrado em Engenharia Mecânica apresentada à Faculdade de Ciências e TecnologiaAcrobatic Gymnastics is a sport characterized by high intensity training and numerous repetitions of the exercises, which increases the probability of injury, particularly of the lower limbs, considering the permanent impact to which the bone, joint and muscle structures are subjected at each reception to the ground. The objective of this work is to study the kinematics and kinetics of the reception to the ground after a vertical jump. For this purpose, an Industrial Force Plate was used. A Force Plate applied to acrobatic gymnastics was also designed and developed. This platform was called the Developed Force Plate. The goal of this platform is, in addition to acquiring vertical force, to be a cheaper alternative to those on the market and more suitable for this sport. The relationship between several kinematic and kinetic variables and the peak vertical force in the reception to the ground, was analyzed. We studied the reception form (if the handwheel falls predominantly on the forefoot or the midfoot); the maximum height of the jump; the impulse exerted; the duration of the handwheel reception; the vertical distance between the ground and the greater trochanter, at the moment of maximum flexion of the lower limbs; and also the influence of the weight of the gymnastThis study concludes that the form of reception (forefoot or midfoot), the impulse exerted on the reception and the weight of the gymnast appear to be related to the peak vertical force on the ground reception. Gymnasts who fall on the forefoot were found to have lower peak forces compared to those who performed the reception on the midfoot. The impulse and the weight of the athlete were directly proportional to the force exerted at the reception. So, it is possible to study each athlete in order to improve their reception on the ground and avoid avoiding future injuries.A Ginástica Acrobática (GA) é uma modalidade caraterizada por treinos de elevada intensidade e realização de inúmeras repetições de exercícios, o que aumenta a probabilidade de lesão, particularmente dos membros inferiores, considerando o constante impacto a que as estruturas ósseas, articulares e musculares estão sujeitas em cada receção ao solo. O objetivo deste trabalho é estudar a cinemática e a cinética da receção ao solo, de ginastas volantes, após um salto vertical a partir de uma estafa. Para tal, foi utilizada uma Plataforma de Forças Industrial (PFI). Foi, ainda, projetada e desenvolvida uma Plataforma de Forças (PF) aplicada à ginástica acrobática, que foi denominada por Plataforma de Forças Desenvolvida (PFD). O objetivo desta plataforma é adquirir a força vertical, sendo uma alternativa mais económica relativamente às do mercado, e com dimensões adequadas à ginástica acrobática.Neste estudo foi analisada a relação entre diversas variáveis cinemáticas e cinéticas com o pico de força vertical na receção ao solo. Estudou-se a forma de receção, isto é, se o volante cai predominantemente sobre o antepé, ou sobre o mediopé, a altura máxima do salto, o impulso exercido, a duração da receção do volante, a distância vertical entre o solo e o trocânter maior do volante, no momento de flexão máxima dos membros inferiores e, também, a influência do peso do ginasta.Com este estudo concluiu-se que a forma de receção (antepé ou mediopé), o impulso exercido na receção, e o peso do ginasta parecem estar relacionados com o pico de força vertical na receção ao solo. Verificou-se que os ginastas que caiem sobre o antepé apresentam forças de pico mais reduzidas, comparados com os que realizavam a receção sobre o mediopé. O impulso e o peso do atleta mostraram ser diretamente proporcionais à força de pico exercida na receção. Desta forma, é possível estudar cada atleta por forma a melhorar a sua receção ao solo, prevenindo, ou se possível, evitando, lesões futuras
