The risk of developing chronic wounds such as diabetic foot is prevalent among diabetic patients, leading to amputation. Although causes leading to wound healing defect are still poorly understood, it has been shown that Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs) like Nε-(carboxymethyl)lysine (CML), resulting from chronic hyperglycemia, are accumulated in the skin.
