Recent studies have shown that arterial cardiovascular diseases are more common in patients with venous thromboembolic disease (VTE) than in the general population; however, risk factors of arterial cardiovascular diseases in these patients remain little explored, as well as the potential impact of anticoagulant therapy used for VTE on the risk of these diseases.
