Tese de doutoramento em Biomedical EngineeringThe main goal of this doctoral project is to explore the huge potential of bacterial cellulose (BC) in distinct areas, with particular focus on biomedical field. Specifically, i) the impact of different strains, fermentation time and fermentation medium on the BC properties was assessed; ii) the potential of oxidized BC as a wound dressing was analyzed; iii) exploratory studies on the use of laser technology for the surface patterning of BC were developed.
