Seismic imaging is one of the most effective methods for estimating the Earth’s physical parameters from seismic data. Based on the assumption of scale separation, several imaging methods split the velocity model into a smooth background model and a reflectivity model. The goal of Migration techniques is to determine the reflectivity in a given background model. Among different migration algorithms, reverse time migration (RTM) has become the method of choice in complex geologic structures.
