Circulating cell-free DNA (cfDNA) molecules released from various tissues within the body are nonrandomly fragmented. There is increasing research interest in studying the nascent field of fragmentomics of cfDNA in plasma. Fragmentomics of cfDNA includes information regarding fragment sizes, nucleosome footprints, end-point positionings, and end motifs.
