The work is focused on the definition of the main structural and semantic features of the terms in the sphere of biotechnology. The study is performed on the basis of the theories of Ukrainian and foreign scientists including the author’s analysis of the chosen terms. The paper describes productive and non-productive ways of creating terminological units. As a result of the analysis the author singles out the main lexical-and-semantic groups of the terms under study as well as dwells on such semantic phenomena as synonymy and antonymy
