The dialogue between applied translation studies and educational linguistics is gradually extending the traditional boundaries of translation education and giving rise to an interdisciplinary area of enquiry that encompasses the training of would-be professional translators and translation teaching in other multilingual learning contexts. Against this background, this chapter examines the principles upheld by the ‘multilingual turn’ (Conteh and Meier, 2014; May, 2014) in educational linguistics and their influence on language education policies (cf.
