The most characteristic greenhouse designs used in six European Union countries contributing to this work are presented in detail. Their advantages and disadvantages are critically described in relationship to the data presented in the first part of this work. In this way the origin of the various greenhouse designs is clarified and the influence of climate, availability of construction materials, tradition, and local regulations is analysed. The outcome of this work may be utilized to improve the various greenhouse designs dominating the European market. © 2000 Silsoe Research Institute
