Curia, chiesa, villaggio: trame insediative del piccolo borgo di Vizzola Ticino

Abstract

Through the investigation of the Diocesan and Parish archives, among the others, the foundation of the Saint Giulio Church in Vizzola Ticino (VA), may be better fixed at the end of the XVI century. On the other side, the pre-existing church, pointed out by scholars, is also confirmed but differently located. By unpublished documents, new data on architecture’s construction were obtained. By a survey, portions of different masonry, including medieval ones, are going to be recognized and distinguished. Thus a new proposal for the two churches and for other buildings is coming up, discovering both the medieval church and castle.
