A solar concentrator device comprises a luminescent solar concentrator (2) of a plate shaped or of a curvilinear shaped type having at least one lateral edge (3); at least one photovoltaic cell (4) disposed on said lateral edge (3); and provided with a positive pole (1 A) and negative pole (1 B). The solar concentrator device comprises also a pair of electrodes (5A, 5B) each connected to a respective pole (1A, 1B) and adapted to act as an anode and cathode of an electrochemical cell.
