Professional quality of life is a quality one feels concerning their work as a helper. Helpers are not only found in nursing but all the professions globally. They may respond to individual, community, national and even to an international crisis. Professional quality of life comprises two aspects, the positive (compassion satisfaction) and the negative (burnout and secondary traumatic stress). The overall concept of professional quality of life is complex because it is associated with characteristics of the work environment (organisational and task wise), the client’s environment (exposure to primary and secondary trauma) and theperson’s environment.
