Background: The brain is susceptible to hypoxic-ischemic brain injury in conjuction with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). Cognitive impairments are documented in about half of all OHCA survivors, however with a pronounced heterogeneity in measurements and findings. More detailed studies and instruments that are sensitive to OHCA-related cognitive impairment, including predictive models to identify individuals at risk, are needed.
