Two small hoards found in 2020 during archaeological prospection in the hinterland of Augusta Raurica (Switzerland) can shed some light on early Imperial coin use and coin circulation. Both groups of coins consist of asses (9 and 8 resp.), together with a halved dupondius struck in Nemausus in the older hoard of Rothenfluh (BL), which was deposited ca. AD 10-30. The second hoard was found in Pratteln (BL) and ends with five Claudian asses, most of them copies. The two finds illustrate the fast changes of small change in the first century AD. Their composition and find spots suggest votive deposits
