Gender Stereotypes in Japanese Anime on the Example of Films Made by Studio Ghibli

This master thesis examines representation of women and men in Japanese anime on the example of films by the Japanese Studio Ghibli. The aim of the work was to find out whether and possibly how gender stereotypes are reproduced, whether these stereotypes change over time and what is related to their possible immutability. The research was conducted as a part of case study. Using grounded theory, all Ghibli Studio films were analysed and five main categories were created. The results of the analysis were compared with the findings of another research on a similar topic
