PENGARUH KADAR PVP K-30 TERHADAP MUTU FISIK TABLET EKSTRAK DAUN JOHAR (Cassia siamea Lamk)

Background: Johar leaf has long been known as an alternative medicine that has anti-diabetic properties, because it contains the active component of the flavonoid group of luteolin compounds, which are marketed as steeped herbal preparations, capsules and dried simplicia. Therefore, it is necessary to develop standardized tablet preparations from johar leaf extract. Research Objectives: To determine the effect of increasing consentration of PVP K-30 binder 1%, 2%, and 3% on the physical quality of Cassia siamea leaves extract tablets, so it can produce tablets that fulfill the requirements. Method: Cassia siamea leaves extract was made by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent. Tablets were made by wet granulation method with a PVP K-30 binder. Examination of the physical quality of the tablet includes: hardness test, friability test and disintegration time, followed by statistical analysis. Results and Conclusions: An increase consentration of PVP K-30 binder can increased the hardness and disintegration time of the tablets, while the friability of the tablets decreased. The result of statistical analysis showed that there were significant differences between formulas on the hardness and disintegration time tablets, while the friability tablet was at 1% and 2% consentration.
