PENGARUH KADAR CMC-NA TERHADAP MUTU FISIK TABLET EKSTRAK DAUN JOHAR (Cassia siamea Lamk)

Background: Johar leaves contain luteolin compounds from the flavonoid group, which are effective for lowering blood sugar or as an antidiabetic. Therefore in the market, johar leaves are still simple as steeping herbs and in capsule form. So it is necessary to develop a tablet preparation with standardized johar leaf extract as an active ingredient. Research Objectives : Determine the effect of CMC-Na 0,5%, 1%, and 2% binder levels on the physical quality of Cassia siamea leaves extract tablets and determine how many CMC-Na 0,5%, 1%, and 2% concentrations are needed to obtain a tablet that fulfill the requirements. Methods: Cassia siamea leaves extract made by maceration method using ethanol 96% as a solvent. The tablets were made using wet granulation method with CMC Na as binder. Examination of the physical quality of tablets included hardness test, friability test and disintegration test, followed with statistical analysis. Results and Conclusions: Concentrations of CMC-Na 0.5%, 1% and 2% had a significant effect on hardness tablets, while the friability of tablets and disintegration time of tablets at consentrations of 0.5% with 1% and 2% did not provide a significant differences.
