KEBUTUHAN PUBLIC DISPLAY OF AFFECTION PADA MEDIA SOSIAL INSTAGRAM (Studi Pada Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang Angkatan 2018)

People in Indonesia in particular are teenagers who are increasingly friendly with dating behavior. In fact, at this time they no longer hesitate to show their intimacy or romance on social media such as Instagram social media. Romance is shown in photo and video posts that are made and disseminated publicly anytime and anywhere can access these posts, including teenagers and even children. Meanwhile, the record of violence in Indonesia has a high percentage as a result of courtship behavior. Thus, this study aims to determine and describe the needs of adolescents to display public affection on Instagram social media using the theory of needs and motivations from Clayton Alderfer. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method and data collection is carried out through in-depth interviews and documentation of four informants that have been determined by researchers. The results of the study indicate that informants do PDA on Instagram social media to meet relatedness's needs, namely to get positive acceptance from other Instagram users and also positive reception from people around such as family and friends. Furthermore, the informant also succeeded in fulfilling the existence's needs, namely getting income from photoshoot offers, as well as eliminating the fear of the presence of a third person in the informant's relationship. the need for growth (growth's needs), namely the desire of the informant to continue to learn and also develop creativity and ideas that will be poured in the informant's posts
