Wade Mitchell and George Valkert

Wade Treutlen Mitchell, T.E. '57, was the quarterback and had the distinction of playing in two bowl games in 1956-the Jan. 1 Sugar Bowl and the Dec. 29 Gator Bowl. He is a member of the Academic All-America Sports Hall of Fame and the Georgia Tech Engineering Hall of Fame. George Anthony Volkert, I.M. '57, played right half back during the 1853-55 seasons. Injuries sidelined him for most of the 1956 season. He credits Coach Bobby Dodd's leadership and the competitive instinct instilled by playing football for much of his later success as a real estate developer. He and Mitchell were named to the United Press All-SEC third team in 1955
