The paper seeks to map the shifting contours of IR (International Relations) research in India from its predominantly area-studies focus towards disciplinary inquiries and within that, from the traditional realist frameworks towards an engagement with critical theories ranging from constructivism and feminism to post-colonialism. With a growing Indian involvement in the domain of global governance, the scholarly research is also going beyond an Indo-centric focus to addressing the diverse problematiques of modern IR as such. The pedagogic practices of Indian IR are however, not matching the pace of such changes.
