The life of the families of prisoners of NKVD special camps against the background of the German occupation. Some general reflections

In his article, the author focuses on the dramatic fate of Polish families under the German occupation, whose relatives were captured by the Soviets and imprisoned in special NKVD camps. The article presents the moment of the outbreak of World War II, the attitude of officers' families to the war, the escape from homes before the approaching front and the end of the September campaign. The author tries to outline the complexity of the fate of women and children who – without a the head of family – had to deal with the realities of the German occupation. Later in the text, the subject of the correspondence between families and prisoners of war, its interruption and the actions of families aimed at obtaining information about a missing relatives are presented. The main part of the text is the assessment and attitude of families to the events of April 1943, when the Germans announced the discovery of the graves in Katyn. The author outlines, first of all, the complexity of families' approach to this event, which is presented in the form of a diagram.Autor w swoim artykule skupia się na przedstawieniu dramatycznych losów polskich rodzin pod okupacją niemiecką, których bliscy dostali się do niewoli sowieckiej i zostali osadzeni w obozach specjalnych NKWD. W artykule został przedstawiony moment wybuchu II wojny światowej, stosunek rodzin oficerskich do wydarzeń wrześniowych, ucieczka z domów przed nadciągającym frontem i zakończenie wojny obronnej. Autor próbuje nakreślić złożoność losów kobiet i dzieci, które – bez głowy rodziny – musiały zmagać się z realiami niemieckiej okupacji. W dalszej części tekstu przybliżony zostaje temat korespondencji rodzin z jeńcami, jej przerwanie i działania rodzin mających na celu pozyskanie informacji o zaginionym członku rodziny.
