Ecological functions of urban parks

The goal of the study was to identify and estimate the ecological functions of urban parks using the geoecological methods. In the work were analysed: dependence between parks' origin, position in the city and natural landscape's components. The Hyde Park in London, Tiergarten in Berlin, Clara Zetkin Park in Leipzig and Łazienki Królewskie in Warsaw constituted the objects of study. Two kind of parks with different ecological function where shown, one of them with lawn predomination, one with trees predomination. The second one has the most effective ecological functions ( climate, biotic, soils, hydrological, pollution absorption). The results of the work can be extrapolated to others parks situated in valley landscape, in European cities, worm temperature climate, in the zone with deciduous forest
