The primary scope of road lighting is to assure safety to traffic and road users, pedestrians included. The contemporary development of new norms, the increment of design complexity of lighting systems and the need of good lighting performances for the whole installations life increased the necessity to verify on site lighting systems performances, on a specified periodicity. Usually in these verifications a high number of photometric measurements, as described in the CIE publications and in national and international standards, is performed with commercial instruments following a manual procedure.
