Despite being long regarded as merely an amusement for researchers, quantum cryptography has now been accepted has a viable solution for secure communications. In fact, the fundamental laws of quantum mechanics guarantee the unconditionnal security of the distributed secret keys. We proposed a quantum key distribution system based on single-photons, exploiting genuine frequencycoded quantum states. This new coding technique removes the need for interferometric devices and therefore offers high intrinsic robustness. We implemented a system based on integrated off-the-shelf optical devices and validated the coding technique.
