Change detection is one of the main applications in earth observation but currently there are only a few approaches based on radar imagery. Available techniques strongly focus on optical data. These techniques are often limited to static analyses of image pairs and are frequently lacking results which address the requirements of the user. Some of these shortcomings include integration of user’s expertise, transparency of methods, and communication of results in a comprehensive understandable way. This study introduces an index describing changes in the savanna ecosystem around the refugee camp Djabal, Eastern Chad, based on a time-series of ALOS PALSAR data between 2007 and 2017. Texture based land-use/land cover classifications are transfe...
Dryland degradation rarely translates into linear, declining trends in vegetation cover due to inter...
Savanna vegetation structure parameters are important for assessing the biomes status under various ...
Remote sensing of disturbance in the savannas from Brazil is challenging, especially due to confound...
The savannas of Southern Africa are an important dryland ecosystem as they cover up to 54% of the la...
Savanna ecosystems exist at the transition zone between tropical forests and deserts. Due to human l...
People are continuously being displaced world over due to ongoing war, political conflict or persecu...
Over 15 million people were officially considered as refugees in the year 2012 and another 28 millio...
Savanna ecosystems cover one fifth of the earth’s usable land and are home to billions of people and...
Accurately mapping savannah land cover at the regional scale can provide useful input to policy deci...
Significant uncertainties persist in the global carbon cycle resulting from land use change in tropi...

This study investigates the combination of images by both radar and optical sensors for environmenta...
In this work we demonstrate that restoration interventions in arid to semi-arid landscapes can be in...
