The topic for the inaugural Symposium, 'Agriculture Capricornia - 1990', developed from the realisation that there was not an adequate inventory of the agricultural resources and there was a need for discussion on the future of the primary industries of the Capricornia region. ....... This Symposium, held at the Capricorni Institute of Advanced Education, was the first forum for agricultural scientists and others interested in rural industries, to examine the potential, and the likely problems for agriculture in the region in the ensuing decade. The organisers placed emphasis on the future potential of agricultural industries in the papers presented at the Symposium and in the discussion associated with each session.
