Although humor is a universal phenomenon found in every society, there are cultural and individual differences in appreciating it. Defining humor is a challenging task due to its emotional, cognitive, physiological, and behavioral, features. In tourism studies, humor may be viewed as a communication or an act which results in positive emotional states such as mirth or exhilaration (Ruch 1993). Humor in tourism is often context specific and can be found as part of pre-visit, onsite, and post- tourist experiences
