Background: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors ameliorate depression and anxiety slowly and in fact increase anxiety or insomnia initially. Addition of clonazepam to escitalopram improves response: thereby improving symptoms associated with depression, reducing side-effects and alleviating core depressive symptoms.
