Introduction: Weaning from mechanical ventilation (MV) is a key step for patients undergoing invasive MV in the intensive care unit (ICU). Among the various tools intended to help predict successor failure weaning, we found the rapid shallow breathing index (RSBI for its acronym in English), that is, the relationship between the respiratory rate and the volume current (Fr/Vt) measured during a spontaneous breathing test (SBT by its acronym in English).
