This essay poses a reflection about La democracia en México in the circumstances of the immediate present and future. It is highlighted that the relational focus of the work and its heterodoxy in the approach continue being of fundamental importance due to the challenges that the progressive digitalization of the public arena proposes, after the arrival of the social media platforms. It is posed a reflection about the relationships between the social structure and politics as a purpose of the technological marginalism and it is concluded that the new circumstances put back on the table the tensions and dilemmas for the approach of the social world which González Casanova assumed a paradigmatic posture against.Este ensayo plantea una reflexión sobre La democracia en México en las circunstancias del presente y del futuro inmediato. Se destaca que el enfoque relacional de la obra y su heterodoxia en el abordaje continúan siendo de fundamental importancia dados los retos que plantea la progresiva digitalización de la arena pública, tras la llegada de las plataformas de social media.
