With the support of gender, race, and ethnicity theories framed in the history of Afro-Latin American culture, this article analyzes literary narratives and historical documents to explain that the antecedent of current racism is found in the discourse and structure of the colonial system, and it's enslaving, religious, and corporative ideology, which derived in hierarchical segregation of castes and an increase of mestizaje.
