Foreword No 1−2 (2022)

Dear Readers, This year is 40th anniversary of our Tribologia journal. To celebrate this, our front page is from the very first issue published in 1982. It was also our honour to have words written by the very first Editor-in-Chief Heikki Sundquist. I would also like to thank our authors for publishing in our journal. We will continue celebrating the anniversary with anniversary seminar which will be more detailed informed later on. Beside this issue, also the next issue will contain historic aspects of the journal. Tribology and tribology research plays a key role in our modern society - it has a way to achieve decreased level of energy usage and increase material efficiency aiming for more sustainable tomorrow. For tribologists, tribology related issues can be seen everywhere - let’s make it visible to more people as well by spreading the joyfull tribological related topics.Hope you enjoy reading this issue, Vuokko HeinoEditor-in-Chie
