ذکاءالرحمن کے افسانوں میں جنوبی پنجاب کی تہذیب و معاشرت: THE CULTURE OF SOUTH PUNJAB IN THE SHORT STORIES OF ZAKA-UR-REHMAN

South Punjab has majority of Saraiki speakers in the southern part of Punjab province. Zaka-ur-Rehman was a distinguished fiction writer and former Adab-e-Latif editor. Four collection of Rehman’s Urdu short stories and two novelettes were published in his life. His short stories are a reflection of the life of the people of South Punjab and Cholistan. A sense of deprivation and anguish is all around in his characters, who seem to be unhappy and depressed due to the social and political injustice and exploitation of mankind. In this article, I have described the short stories of Zaka-ur-Rehman regarding life and culture of the South Punjab. Zaka-ur-Rehman used the desert as a background to highlight the impressions of the civilization and society of South Punjab in myths. The beautiful marques of South Punjab's civilization and society can be found in his fictions. He highlighted the backwardness, mental conservatism and bodhisattva style of the districts of South Punjab in his fictions with artistic dexterity. Zaka-ur-Rehman lived day and night in South Punja
