Ghalib belongs to the classical period of Urdu poetry. This was a period when the appreciation and enjoyment of poetry was a cultural phenomenan of the Sub-continent. The poets read their creations and informed the audience verbally about them. There was no fashion to give composition a title. The Cult of reading poetry was introduced later by the advent of printing press and Journals when the Titles became necessary.
