One of the most influential writers, Irish author James Joyce uses some techniques that put him into avant-garde. Apart from his stream of conscious technique in the form of interior monologues, epiphany, as the subject of this thesis, makes him unique in the world of fiction because he engraves his epiphanies with his artistic comprehension. This thesis discusses in detail the epiphanies used in Dubliners by James Joyce, which is comprised of 15 short stories, following the attempt to define and provide acceptance of the term from within the contribution of both literary theoreticians and practitioners.
