Shahid Ahmed Dehlvi had launched Saqi an Urdu literary magazine in the pre-independence era. With the passage of time the magazine became immensely popular in the literary circles and with it its editor too became a celebrity. But after the creation of Pakistan in 1947, Shahid Ahmed Dehlvi migrated to Pakistan and brought with him the magazine to Karachi from where it was published under the trying circumstances till Shahid Ahmed Dehlvi’s death in 1967.
