Urdu short has a vibrant history. It has developed and used differenttechniques, forms and narrative strategies to articulate the changing sensibilities of lastcentury. During last couple of decades, the ability of Urdu Short story to capture andnarrate the contemporary sensibility has been questioned by different critics. Thisarticle explores and answers the basis of the arguments against short story byexamining the stories written in the last few decades in terms of the social values. It isargued that the Urdu short story has engaged with the mobility of social values,contemporary human situation and cultural norms artistically
