Esclerose lateral amiotrófica - ELA: progressão da doença em pacientes diagnosticados

Objective: Dissert about the progression of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis - ALS in diagnosed patients and discourse about the nurse's role in ALS’s therapy. Methods: The study is about a bibliographic integrative revision, between 2017-2022, through research in the electronic data base of the Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), PubMed, BVS and Lilacs. Results: Twenty-six articles were used in this article, the relation between the content of the article and the theme determined in this article was crucial for the elaboration during the dissertation, by showing the most important information and the conclusion of several authors, divided in six categories: The development of the disease; Risk factors; Diagnosis; Symptomatology and its complications; Therapy; and the nurse’s role in ALS. Conclusion: The study allowed purchase knowledge about the disease, although it is still in constant discovery. The treatment of the pathology occurs through palliative care, planning the interventions according to the patient’s condition, with the objective to provide quality of life for the patient, the patient’s family members and the patients' caregivers. The Riluzol was the most effective medication in the treatment of ALS, increasing the survival and assuaging the symptoms. Beyond that, some risk factors for the development of the disease were pointed out. About the nurse’s role in ALS, it was set that their role is very important during the progression of the disease's course and the pathology’s treatment of the diagnosed patient with ALS.Objetivo: Dissertar sobre a progressão da esclerose lateral amiotrófica - ELA em pacientes diagnosticados e discorrer sobre o papel do enfermeiro no tratamento da ELA. Metodologia: Trata-se um estudo de revisão integrativa bibliográfica, no período de 2017-2022, através de um levantamento em base de dados eletrônicos da Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), PubMed, Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (Lilacs). Resultados: Foram separados 26 artigos dos quais foram determinados por meio de análise do conteúdo e sua relação com a temática proposta, interligando-os com a finalidade de obter as informações de suma importância e conclusões de autores diversos discorridos no artigo em seis categorias implementadas, sendo elas: Desenvolvimento da doença; Fatores de risco; Diagnóstico; Sintomatologia e complicações; Terapêutica; e Papel do enfermeiro. Conclusão: O estudo permitiu adquirir conhecimentos disponibilizados acerca da Esclerose Lateral Amiotrófica, apesar de que a mesma ainda se encontra em constante descoberta. O tratamento da patologia ocorre por meio dos cuidados paliativos, através do planejamento de intervenções mediante a condição do quadro do paciente, visando a qualidade de vida do mesmo, de seus familiares e cuidadores. O Riluzol foi tido como medicamento primordial para o tratamento da ELA, aumentando a sobrevida e amenizando os sintomas. Além disso, alguns fatores de risco para o desenvolvimento da doença foram apontados. No que diz respeito ao enfermeiro, foi averiguado que seu papel é de suma importância durante todo o percurso da progressão e tratamento da patologia, no que se refere ao paciente diagnosticado com ELA
