A ATUAÇÃO DO FARMACÊUTICO NO CONTROLE DA AUTOMEDICAÇÃO EM IDOSOS: REVISÃO BIBLIOGRÁFICA

The elderly represents one of the age groups with the highest growth rate in Brazil, and represent the age group that most uses medications. Thus, there is a growing concern in the health area about the high prevalence of self-medication among the elderly. Objective: This research has as general objective to analyze the benefits of the care of the pharmacy professional in the control of self-medication in the elderly. Methodology: This is bibliographical research with a qualitative approach. Data were selected from the Scielo, LILACS, and PubMed databases in the period between 2011 and 2021. Results: After analyzing the research found, 15 papers were selected for discussion, according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Conclusion: The pharmacist has technical knowledge and competence to guide the elderly regarding the use of medication and thus contribute to reducing the risks associated with self-medication.Os idosos representam uma das faixas etárias com maior índice de crescimento no Brasil, e representa o grupo etário que mais utiliza medicações. Assim, há uma crescente preocupação da área da saúde com a alta prevalência da automedicação entre os idosos. Objetivo: A presente pesquisa possui como objetivo geral analisar os benefícios do cuidado do profissional de farmácia no controle da automedicação em idosos. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica de abordagem qualitativa. Os dados foram selecionados nas bases de dados Scielo, LILACS, e PubMed no período entre 2011 e 2021.  Resultados: Após análise das pesquisas encontradas foram selecionados, conforme critérios de inclusão e exclusão, 15 trabalhos para discussão. Conclusão: O farmacêutico possui conhecimento técnico e competência para orientar os idosos quanto ao uso de medicamentos e assim contribuir para a diminuição dos riscos associados à automedicação
