A Spindle, like this one, is another good example. Used in the fabric-making process, this complex tool is made of stone weights attached to the bottom of a wooden rod, and the textile to be spun is attached to the top end of the rod. The spindle would then be spun, the weight of the stone drop weights at the end and the twisting action of the tool creating the necessary pull and tension to turn the raw textile material into a form suitable for weaving into fabric.https://digitalcommons.memphis.edu/chnash-museum-chucalissa-gallery2/1022/thumbnail.jp
