Background: Portal vein thrombosis (PVT) is a severe complication of liver cirrhosis (LC), especially in presence of hepatocarcinoma (HCC). Liver is the main site of homocysteine (Hcy) metabolism and Hcy-related vitamins (folate, B12) storage.
