Phenology, shoot and fruit growth of cultivars 'Canino', 'Leccino', 'Maurino' and 'Pendolino' were observed during five years in two locations of the Canino area (Central Italy) differing for the microclimate. Timing of phenologycal phases differed among cultivars and was affected by thermal conditions. The local cv 'Canino' was later and its vegetative behaviour was more dependent on crop load than the other cultivars
